Development is underway at the former bus depot on Morland Street, Bishop Auckland to provide 23 affordable, energy efficient homes.

The derelict bus depot site, situated off Cockerton Hill Road benefits from direct transport links, easy access to local amenities, leisure facilities and primary schools. Homes will be highly energy efficient each benefitting from air source heat pumps, solar panels and electrical vehicle charging points.  Available from autumn 2025, plans include four 2-bedroom bungalows, 12 two-bedroom homes, and 7 three-bedroom homes available for rent and rent to buy.

Our key partner, Oaktree Living is currently developing nine family homes at our site in Low Etherley, Bishop Auckland and will be commence work at Morland Street in September 2024.

Andrew Kitchen, Head of Development, said: “I’m really pleased that planning permission has been granted.  These homes will contribute to meeting local demand for small family homes and bungalows in the area, whilst making best use of the brownfield site.”

Graeme Walton, Head of Construction for Oaktree Living, said: "We are proud to continue to strengthen our relationship with Livin Housing and look forward to delivering these much needed, energy efficient homes. It’s great to see a brownfield site being developed into a lovely residential estate, much improving the local area."

Full property details will be available in September 2024 and applications will be accepted through Durham Key Options.
