Lifeline Community Action (LCA), Newton Aycliffe will continue to provide emergency aid and support services to families across County Durham with a further £10,000 community grant award.
In 2016 LCA was awarded its first community grant, and last year they enabled 650 families to access support packages including household, early years, basic cleaning, hygiene, teenage toiletries, and winter warmer. LCA offers vital advice and guidance, tailoring support packages to the needs of the person, and acts as a referral agency to make sure each family is given the best overall support possible.
In 2023/24 we have supported 26 community projects with grant funding totaling over £100,000. Each project has generated outcomes to support those living in our homes and communities, to not just survive but to thrive.
Projects included cost of living support, support for families and vulnerable adults, employment programmes, school holiday activities, detached youth work, and community safety interventions.
Together these projects have generated a social value of over £29.4million, £18 million is attributed to the LCA project. Social value is a financial figure attached to improving people’s lives and although this is not cash we receive, it allows organisations to put a value against an improvement made to people's lives.
We have also supported nine other projects to access external funding provided by The National Lottery and the Government that collectively generate a further £1.1M into our communities.
Pauline Chambers, LCA executive business co-ordinator said: "We have been funded for several years by Livin and as a result, they have assisted in the growth of the charity to meet the year-on-year growth in demand. Lifeline values Livin as a partner and referral agency and their support has helped us reach those most in need in our local communities."
Malcolm Gray, community investment manager said: "We are very lucky to be able to work with like-minded, passionate community partners such as Lifeline. They work tirelessly to provide support to those most financially and socially disadvantaged, with amazing results."
We offer five community grants covering greener, safer, healthier, financially stronger, and bringing places together.
