Reinventing Homes Launch

Re-inventing Homes, a news style programme launches on 28-30 June at the Housing 2022 event in Manchester.  Co-produced by The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and ITN Productions Industry News the programme combines key sector interviews, news items and editorials from housing associations and local authorities that have pioneered following covid-19 and the climate emergency.

Lockdowns and numerous restrictions resulted in the number of new homes built falling to a five-year low - a sharp contrast to 2019-20, when the number hit the highest point since records began in the 1990s. The reality of high housing costs, poor standards and overcrowding was felt by many when homes became classrooms and offices.

We partnered with the CIH and ITN to report on how effective regeneration can transform communities by creating safe, warm, affordable, and sustainable homes, whilst enhancing wellbeing. Our footage focuses on current investment in schemes in Shildon, County Durham, and also takes a look back at previous completed schemes and covers how we are redeveloping homes and transforming places to be proud of, promoting job opportunities and giving communities the support, they need to thrive.

Alan Boddy, chief executive said: “The difficulties people in our communities have experienced and are continuing to experience are the most challenging we have seen. Our placemaking approach is targeted at communities that are struggling, providing the right support when it is most needed.  We act as a catalyst bringing local organisations and community groups together to deliver meaningful and sustainable improvements to places so they can continue to be places where people are proud to live.”
