Over 2,800 homes have received energy efficiency improvements to increase their SAP band rating from D to C, saving customers up to £400 a year on utility bills.
Currently, 96.5% of our homes are rated as Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C, taking us close to meeting the national Government target of 100% early, which is currently set at 2030.
Energy efficiency measures include cavity wall insulation, insulated flat roofs, loft insulation, external wall insulation, solar panels, LED lighting, Radbot smart thermostat valves, and air source heat pumps. All boiler replacements are A-rated high efficiency boilers, and every effort is made to minimise disruption by upgrading homes whilst void, and where other works have been planned.
Kevin Finnon, from West Cornforth has experienced the benefits firsthand, with external insulation and render applied to his home, resulting in noticeable monthly savings on his energy bills and a warmer home even when his thermostat is set to 17 degrees.
Kevin said: "I can feel a difference already, I can put the thermostat on in the morning, knock it down when I'm out, and only have to put it back on later at night. It retains the heat very well and on my last review with my energy company, I was able to gain a £36 monthly reduction".
Paul Thompson, Head of Property Services, said: "We've invested £7.7 million (including funding from Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund SHDF) in upgrading our homes to reduce energy consumption and make them more affordable to run. It's incredibly rewarding to see the life-changing effects energy improvement work has had."
