We are committed to taking positive climate and ecological action through our Planet A Strategy. We are embedding environmental sustainability into all our operations to reduce our environmental impacts and carbon emissions.
By working closely with you we are increasing the biodiversity of our greenspaces and improving the energy efficiency and performance of our homes and properties through ongoing retrofit programs.
What we are doing to tackle climate change
We know that we are heading towards a world that is going to be at least 1.5 degrees warmer. We are in a climate emergency and must act now to ensure we are mitigating and adapting to climate change while providing energy efficient homes and climate resilient places.
200 properties will receive solar paneling and smart air brick upgrades and 150 properties will receive smart air bricks.
Making energy efficiency improvements to 1,200 homes to bring them up to EPC Band C. Including insulation top ups, LED lightbulb installation and more.
Installing energy saving technology in four new homes on our Elizabeth Gardens development using Solar PV, air source heat pumps and mechanical ventilation.
Building 15 new bungalows at Maple Avenue and Firtree in Shildon that will benefit from low carbon technologies including Solar PV and air source heat pumps.
Our first 'future' home will be built at our Laburnum Grove site. Using technologies and building techniques leading to our most sustainable property with a projected 80% drop in emissions capable of achieving zero carbon.
Building ten homes at Laburnum Grove, St Helen Auckland using Solar PV and air source heat pumps.
Nine new homes will be built on the low Etherley site using low carbon technologies such as Solar PVS and air source heat pumps.
Installed insulated cladding and window replacements to 53 bungalows in Ferryhill.
Carried out loft top ups to 105 properties.
Installed Grade A energy efficient boilers to 36 flats in Newton Aycliffe that had inefficient communal heating.
Installed PV with battery back up in 37 bungalows in Chilton with LAD2 funding contribution via DCC.
Installed PV and air source heat pumps on two pilot homes at our Travellers Green development site.
Installed EWI to 112 homes at York Hill as part of our regeneration project.
Installed low carbon air source heat pumps to four new homes in Barnfield Road, Spennymoor.
Installed low carbon air source heat pumps to eight new bungalows at Canopus Close, Newton Aycliffe.
